Personal Development in Network Marketing

One of the key weaknesses most beginner network marketers have is know how and sales skills. After all, many of them actually joined the industry because of the potential for growth and good income but not all of them have the experience in promoting, selling and networking that are critical to Mlm success. This is why it’s highly important that in choosing network marketing programs, you should zero in on the potential to get personal development training as well.
Getting the support you need
The best Mlm programs work because there is a clear structure and standard procedures maintained. These are implemented and followed by all business units, such as those built by a team leader and his/her downlines.
Without the necessary support, it’s very easy for individual differences and preferences to come in, thereby diluting the system and even corrupting it. This is how many of the wrong practices and faulty procedures seep into a network marketing business unnoticed. Before long, the business will begin to suffer from the lack of discipline and cooperation among members.
A strong network marketing company understands the need to maintain a set standard of work and performance quality among its team leaders and their downlines. Only then can the structure of the business be maintained and the quality of service assured to its customers.
So how do you find a network marketing program that can assure you of personal development? Here are some signs to look out for:
Well-organized marketing campaigns
The Mlm industry is a robust, multi-billion dollar industry. It has several major players and dozens of minor ones, each vying for a bigger segment of the market. Once you sign up for one program, know that what you’ll be up against are at least 5 or 10 others in the same field, whether it’s consumer goods, personal care or nutritionals.
If your Mlm program cares about the personal development of its members, they should be able to provide you with professional quality marketing materials. These should contain sufficient information to promote the products and/or services to help drum up interest in the business.
Training
A good Mlm company should be able to constantly provide training for their members. As mentioned earlier, most people join the industry with very little knowledge – all they truly have are good intentions. Your network marketing company should include affiliate seminars and training that is specifically geared towards improving the sales and marketing performance of all teams.
Community support
Another important clue to identifying a Mlm company that offers solid personal development is one where strong community support is present. With all the income that can be potentially generated in network marketing, it’s quite easy to turn greedy. However, if a network marketing company is well structured, it should be able to promote and nurture community support among its members.
Customer support
Customer support is not just a goal for personal development in network marketing, it’s also a strategy. It’s a known fact that good customer support does more for a business than anything else. Of course, when customers feel taken care of and valued, they are more likely to patronize your business.
Fair compensation plan
Nothing does more for personal development than a program that offers a fair yet well-paying compensation plan. In fact, this is one of the main reasons why people sign up for a particular program. When you are presented with a network marketing opportunity, always check to see how well structured the compensation plan is. This, among other factors, will help determine how well you will get rewarded for your efforts.

6 Keys to Building Momentum in your Online Network Marketing Business

Copyright (c) 2007 Dave Sherwin

Why is it that some people have massive organizations in their online network marketing venture in a short time, while others struggle and fail? I have identified why.

I think the “secret” can be summed up in one word: momentum. And momentum doesn’t seem to be created by massive effort, “big breaks”, or charismatic, flamboyant personalities. As a matter of fact, from my own experience I can’t find many common denominators between the leaders I know in the field of online network marketing. There are men and women, old and young, people from blue collar backgrounds as well as white collar professionals.

So how do you create momentum? Here are six keys that I have identified in people that I personally work with, in and out of my organization:

1. They have a vision of what they want and a plan to get there. Their “why” is strong. They usually have very specific reasons that they are building their business, and they are serious about achieving their goals. They have a business plan, and act from that plan, which includes their goals, strategies, and marketing methods.

2. They don’t treat it like a hobby, they treat it like a business. They are willing to invest in their business. These are the people that don’t complain about the cost of marketing. These people are willing to invest $200-$300 a month or more marketing their online network marketing business.

3. They are consistent. They work their business every single day, at least 5 days a week or more, where those that are unsuccessful work their business once or twice a week, if that. In Jim Collins amazing book, “Good to Great”, he compares building momentum to getting a huge flywheel spinning. The first push doesn’t do much, or the second or third, or even the hundredth. But eventually, if you consistently push again and again, the wheel will spin so fast you couldn’t stop it if you tried. Building an online network marketing business is just like that, you have to give it consistent effort over a reasonable period of time, usually at least six months.

4. They take 100% ownership of their business. They aren’t waiting on anybody else to do anything for them, they just dig in and get to work. You will never catch these people blaming their sponsor for their lack of success. Regardless of the skills of their sponsor, they are going to get it done.

5. They are students of the business, constantly learning and studying. They spend time not only in personal development, but they are students of business and of marketing. They also invest a fair amount of time in trial and error, and discovering what doesn’t work to find out what does. They’re not afraid to fail if they learned a lesson in the process.

6. They love their products and use them religiously. It seems that success is very closely related to the passion a person has for the products they market. These people are not only fans of the products, they are usually on the “big” autoship and are proud to talk to anybody about the products they represent.

I believe anybody can activate their membership with a company they feel good about, and simply apply these six principles for six months and have success. It’s not that hard, it’s just that most people don’t understand the power of consistent effort, with the right attitude, for a reasonable period of time. So if you want success in the online network marketing world, just apply these six fundamentals to your business and get ready for the bonus checks to roll in!

Personal Development = Success in Your Business!

Through my experience with my network marketing company, I cannot stress enough how much my outlook has changed. Not just my outlook on finances, but my life in general. This business is about so much more than making money or even helping people: It’s about personal development. Personal development is not just a notion that ends at the conclusion of your formative years – it’s an ongoing process that will take you on a journey to discover who you are and what you really want in life.

I started my business initially because I know that someday, I want to be a stay at home mother. My fiancĂ© works hard and is an excellent provider, however, when the time comes, I want to be able to contribute to my family’s income while raising my children. This business has made that possible for so many people– so I thought immediately, why couldn’t this happen for me? What do I really have to lose from trying vs. what could I lose if I don’t try it and it works? I didn’t want to live with that kind of regret.

This business has become even more to me now. Through the books I have read and the training sessions I have attended, I have received a much-needed boost. I can now manage to approach life’s everyday issues with a more positive mindset. It has truly changed my perspective and has allowed me to become a happier person. I have even managed to come out of my shell more – I am generally a pretty reserved person with people I do not know. However, this endeavor has allowed me to talk with more people, overcome my fear of shyness and even speak in front of groups of people when I’ve been terrified of the very idea! It’s very liberating to overcome your fears and see great things happening because of your decision.

Honestly, I had no idea that just making the decision to begin a business would impact me in such a way. I would normally hear about first time/new business owners who have payroll, inventories, tax liabilities and overhead costs that cause them to be more miserable than before (especially in this economic climate). Luckily, I don’t have to worry about those things and I’ve changed for the better (in more ways than one) because of my involvement with this business.

Why Most People Suck at Online Network Marketing

Copyright (c) 2007 Escape The Matrix LLC

When I was introduced to online network marketing, I jumped in with both feet and a lot of enthusiasm… then I crashed and burned like the Hindenburg. I want to show you how to avoid making some of the rookie mistakes I made.

Here are eight things you can do to ensure success:

1. Have a strong Why. This is definitely number one. If you don’t have a very clear vision of what you want, and a “never say die” attitude, you probably won’t succeed anywhere, in anything. Spend some time getting very clear on what you want, why you want it, and commit to pay the price to get it.

2. Join the right company. This one was painful for me because I had many good friends in my former company, and I was very loyal. But as I tried to build my organization online, I came to understand that they didn’t get it with the internet, they weren’t going to get it any time soon, and the wave of opportunity was going to pass me by if I didn’t find a cutting edge company. Very tough decision, but when I finally found the right company it was like taking the brakes off, my organization grew bigger in 5 months than my old team grew in 3 years!

3. Eliminate distractions. Let’s face it, when you get online there’s suddenly a thousand things fighting for your attention. Video games, useless e-mails, marketing offers, video sites… the list goes on and on. You have to be able to focus on your daily priorities until they are all done before you get distracted by any of these time sucking income reducers.

4. Establish a plan and strategy. If you don’t know exactly how to accomplish your goals, you are likely to be sucked into “program of the week” mode. You must have a business plan, and know what activities will get you the signups you need in your business. Don’t fall for every sales pitch you see. Figure out what works and commit to it, only trying new strategies after your core methods are implemented.

5. Be a good student. Too many people rely on others for their success. Nobody else cares about your success like YOU do. YOU must become the expert. You can’t outsource your marketing education to somebody else.

6. Develop the habit of personal development. I have heard many of the top online marketers and network marketers train, and every single one of them has a personal development program. They read the good books, listen to life improving audios, and attend self improvement and marketing seminars.

7. Be willing to WORK for your dreams! There is no substitute for HARD WORK! Be willing to put in the hours to build a great business. Second to work is the issue of consistency. Online network marketing is something that has to be done DAILY. Too many people dabble at it, spending a few hours here and there. That doesn’t work. It’s much better to spend a little bit of time every single day than a lot of time on Saturday. Even if you only do ONE thing to build your business per day. Try it for a month and prepare to be amazed at how much progress you’ve made!

8. Have realistic expectations. Because there are so many hypy, unbelievable testimonials out there people think they are going to get to a $10,000 a month income their first month. Unfortunately, a lot of people HAVE done this online, and it can be done. But we usually don’t hear the “story behind the story”. Success almost always comes after a period of consistent, effective work. As great as the internet is, and as much leverage as it provides, it just makes the process easier and shorter, but you still have to go through the process. What if it takes you five years to make over $100,000 a year? Consider this: most people in the US work 40 years, 40 hours a week and only 5% reach the $100,000 a year mark, but we are willing to quit our online business in the first year if we don’t achieve it?! We just need to be willing to commit to the process for as long as it takes, and give our efforts a chance to compound.

Online network marketing is AWESOME. It pays residual checks, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s easy to do. These eight things just aren’t that hard to do. Do a “check up from the neck up” to see which of these areas you need to work on to ensure you have success in your online network marketing business!

Why Income From your Home-based Business Seldom Exceeds Personal Development

Contrary to popular belief, money doesn’t solve the problems of life. This is especially true for those who are given money or win money on a whim. Do you ever wonder why 95% of all lottery winners wind up filing for bankruptcy before they die? It’s because they didn’t become a different person just because they received the money. They kept the same mindset that they had when they couldn’t afford to pay the rent. They didn’t grow into the person capable of handling a lot of money.

Don’t get me wrong, you can certainly arrive at your problems in style with money, which is a great thing. But it’s the kind of person you become that handles the problem successfully, especially when you learn a lesson. People who buy their way out of problems are only destined to repeat their mistakes until they are eventually broke. They don’t learn and they don’t grow. You want to be responsible and continuously learn throughout your life, especially in your home-based business. That’s how you move on to bigger and better things.

A million dollars is not as important as the person you could become while achieving it. Those who earn a fortune and then lose it are able to earn it again because of who they became the first time around. Something magical happens to you when you put forth the effort to go after your goals and dreams. The activity and experiences you go through molds you into a successful person in all areas of life. That is worth more than any amount of money you could ever wish for.

One of the first places to begin developing the mindset of a person who appreciates themselves more than the money they make is to realize that profits are better than wages. This doesn’t mean you should walk into your job tomorrow and quit. But realize that as long as work for someone else, you won’t make as much money as you want. You’ll make as much money as your boss wants you to make and you’ll be able to pay your bills, but you’ll never be rich.

You can start to change your situation carefully by working full-time on your job and part-time on your future. This means being serious about your home-based business if you are currently thinking of it as a hobby. Hobbies won’t make you rich unless you are extremely creative enough to invent the next fad like the pet rock or liquid paper. Work hard to grow your enterprise. Step by step you can make it happen.

Don’t be the type of person that sits around and hopes for things to change. Or worse yet, hopes that the government will support you when you get old. That kind of mindset will get you nowhere in life. You simply should not rely on anyone but yourself. Being responsible for your own future will allow you to become the type of person that doesn’t need to complain about how hard life is. Wouldn’t you like to replace the ever-popular phrase “That’s too expensive!” with “I can afford that!”? Working on your personal development will allow for this change in attitude.

Financial independence is the ability to live from the income of your own personal resources. This doesn’t mean you should go out and sign up for a bunch of credit cards to max out on over-priced leads and online busines systems. They don’t work and you’ll get yourself deep into debt. Instead of following this trend in network marketing that accounts for the 95% drop-out rate, spend your hard earned money on a proper marketing education system that emphasizes leadership.

Helping others along the way to your own success will allow you to become a better person as well. You could have all the money in the world but you could never use it to buy the praise of someone who says you changed their life for the better. That kind of success is only earned and you can never lose it. Money comes and goes, but building relationships with other people through personal development will keep you inspired and satisfied at all times.

A sure-fire way to increase your home-based business success by helping others is to always lead with your product or service. Leading with your business opportunity will only attract people who are interested in money, and they will quit when they haven’t become rich in the first few months. You want to find people who are willing to try your product or service long enough to generate an emotional attachement. This will throw the issue of money right out of the window and allow people to constantly work on improving themselves before their bank accounts.

Love what you become instead of the money you will receive and you will be a walking example of success. Study personal development on a daily basis to keep yourself on the right track as you go along. So many people start home-businesses for the wrong reasons and they wind up failing. They blame the company and person who got them involved instead of taking the responsibility to admit their own mistakes.

If your business is failing, look within yourself to find the answers instead of jumping to another company and repeating the same mistakes. Successful people change themselves when they want to change their outcome in life. And that’s another thing money just can’t buy.
